30 Days of Prayer: Day 1

I am Maribel Feliciano and I think that I might be a starving Catholic.

I was born and raised Catholic and have great pride in being what I am, but I also haven't ACTIVELY practiced my faith WHOLE HEARTED-LY in a while and I want to change that.

I have noticed that I am happiest when I am with God and would like to feel that once again, so I have decided to try a 30 Days of Prayer Challenge starting today and if you feel like joining me I am MORE than happy to share this journey with you.

Today, assuming you are joining me today, we are going to start with a prayer, then roll into a scripture, and after that pray the rosary.

Sooooooo, Let us pray.

Pray for your family and for your home:

We are going to start off by praying for our family and our home. Please take a moment to say a small prayer for your family.

Be thankful for the family you have and the place that you call home. Ask God to help them and your household.

Family is really important and we are all blessed to have some, whether it is by blood or the people we meet along the way.

Scripture:

Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you , so you also must forgive.
Colossians 3:13

Forgiving each other in our household is more important than ever. With the virus causing people to quarantine, everyone is stuck inside with no where to go. We must be kind to one another and forgive each other for the problems that arise.

Pray the Rosary: Sorrowful Mysteries:

I tried to keep things short above because the rosary can take a long time and I always feel tired after praying it, so I didn't want to feel overwhelmed.

Here is a breakdown on how to pray the rosary and today's devotion.

1. Make the sign of the cross and say the Apostle's Creed.

In the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,       creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,       who was conceived by the Holy Spirit       and born of the virgin Mary.       He suffered under Pontius Pilate,       was crucified, died, and was buried;       he descended to hell.       The third day he rose again from the dead.       He ascended to heaven       and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.       From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,       the holy catholic church,       the communion of saints,       the forgiveness of sins,       the resurrection of the body,       and the life everlasting. Amen.

2. Say the Our Father.

Our Father, Who art in heaven,  Hallowed be Thy Name.  Thy Kingdom come.  Thy Will be done,  on earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.  And forgive us our trespasses,  as we forgive those who trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,  but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

3. Say three Hail Mary's and the Glory Be.

Hail Mary,  Full of Grace,  The Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women,  and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary,  Mother of God,  pray for us sinners now,  and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

14. Concluding prayers are Hail Holy Queen and Let us pray.

Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
Amen.
O God, whose only begotton Son,             by His life, death, and resurrection has             purchased for us the rewards of eternal life,             Grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating             upon these mysteries in the most Holy Rosary             of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may             imitate what they contain, and obtain what             they promise: through the same Christ our Lord.
            Amen.

I am going to end it here. Thank you for joining me today and I hope you got something out of it. Again, this is a 30 day challenge and I hope you join me tomorrow too.
